Slow Roll Detroit

The 2018 Season of Slow Roll is in full swing, and it is a great one! Detroit is the birthplace of Slow Roll, one of the worlds largest weekly bike rides, and it is Detroit that made Slow Roll what it is today; amazing. Slow Roll is now in its 7th season and it started with a simple path; lets get people together and lets show them what Detroit is. Well its because of those people that Slow Roll has become so much more than just a bike ride, it brings people together in a meaningful way. Riding all types of bikes with all types of people has had a lasting effect on our riders; from making friends, to finding love, to reconnecting with a bicycle and reconnecting with the city. There are so many stories because Slow Roll can mean something different to everyone, whether its social or a healthy activity, to bringing in new perspectives and breaking down barriers. The simple mission to bring all walks of life together to enjoy a leisurely bike ride has had an effect that the founders have cultivated over the years. Slow Roll being slow paced ride is very intentional, because we want everyone to be able to ride, no mater what type of bike you ride or how many miles you log. You dont need spandex, a fixed gear, or expensive bike. All you need is two wheels... or more!

Slow Roll is for everyone; all ages, all skill levels and every type of bike is welcome. Our slow pace keeps the group safe and gives riders a unique perspective of our great city and its neighborhoods.

Slow Roll is a group bicycle ride that meets every Monday night in Detroit and each week we meet at different venue to take a unique route throughout the city, including all the major and minor neighborhoods that we are so proud of. The positive energy and community driven atmosphere is what keeps people coming back and sharing the Slow Roll experience with their friends and family!

Now in the a 7th Season, Slow Roll is operated by Detroit Bike City, Inc., a non-profit corporation. We have worked hard to continue with the spirit of Slow Roll and to create a membership program that will help to ensure the ride and its future in Detroit and beyond. With the great partnership that has developed with the City of Detroit and the Detroit Police Department, every season is set to be a great one. Some new venues, new routes, old favorites, and a police escort to keep us safe and rolling!

This year Slow Roll will partner with nearly 50 Detroit Non-Profit Organizations to build awareness and invite our riders to step into active community service in Detroit. This little bike ride that has done so much is about to do so much more.
